Royal Southern Yacht Club Trust for servo assist equipment for his Hansa Class Liberty(used to be Access). David explains how valuable the grant has been:
"I have no hand function and need motors to operate the jib and main sheets, however I am able to manually operate the tiller. These systems allow myself and others with even more severe disabilities to sail independently, and to be competitive on level terms with the able-bodied. I bought a new me with my new boat at the dinghy show, and race at my club Whitefriars Sailing Club in the Cotswold water parks. The first time I was out in this boat, I won against all the able-bodied competition; so I'm very pleased with it. This is a good start in my campaign towards the Hansa European Championships. As a new Sailability Group we are keen to get more disabled sailors and volunteers and more information can be found on our White Friars Sailability website and Whitefriars Sailability Facebook page.
